What Causes Chest Acne and How To Get Rid Of It

Chest acne is the type of acne that appears on the chest. As in all types of acne, chest acne develops when there is an overproduction of sebum that, along with dead skin cells, blocks the pores and creates an environment for acne-causing bacteria to multiply and cause an infection. When there is an infection, the skin turns red, blotchy, and inflamed, and the inflammation is what you call acne breakouts. Notice that with acne, there is blocking of the pores, trapping the bacteria inside. So essentially, where there are pores, there always stands a chance of acne developing.

In order to treat acne, you will need to get to the bottom. Deal with the root cause to end acne, so to speak. When you think about it the biggest issue with chest acne (or any type of acne for that matter) is the too much production of sebum. If this can be controlled, then there will not be any acne flare-ups to begin with. But what triggers this overproduction of sebum? Hormonal imbalance is said to play a big role in this, the reason why the incidence of acne is higher in adolescents and women who are menstruating, pregnant and in the menopausal stage. Since keeping a balance of the hormones is often beyond anyone’s control (unless you go for hormone injections), getting rid of acne becomes very difficult. Nevertheless, it is something that can be done with medications or home remedies.

Prescription and over the counter medications for acne include:

Oral Isotretinoid. This works best for more severe types of acne.

Oral antibiotics such as Erythromycin and Tetracycline to control the infection.

Topical antibiotics, just like Azelaic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Clindamycin, Erythromycin, to reduce inflammation and control infection.

Topical retinoids, such as Adapalene and Tretinoin, to unclog the pores.

On the other hand, to treat acne naturally, you’ll need any one of the following:

Orange peel. The orange peel treatment is one of the best ways to deal with acne naturally. Just simply pulverize the orange peel, and apply on the acne directly. Orange peel is somewhat acidic and being so makes it gives it its capability to control sebum.

Lemon. Like orange, lemon is also acidic which makes it a great treatment choice for people with acne. Simply squeeze the juice out of a piece of lemon and apply it on the acne blemishes on your chest.

Garlic. Rub garlic on your chest many times during the day. This eventually cleans and clears your skin of acne blemishes. To hasten the healing process, chew on raw garlic. Your breath will stink but this helps to cleanse your blood of impurities, enabling you to get rid of acne faster.

Cucumber. Hydrating and soothing, grated cucumber when applied on acne blemishes for 20 minutes offer some relief to skin affected with acne.

You have the liberty to choose how you treat your acne, but always make sure to start with a clean face. Hygiene is very important in getting rid of acne and keeping it from coming back.
